THE BRIEF
TO DESIGN A ONE BEDROOMED STYLISH HOUSE THAT CAN EASILY
BE ADDED ONTO AT A LATER DATE .

Designing a Home That Grows With You
The main purpose of this website and blog is to take you through the process of designing a small, well-built, and well-designed home that can be easily extended at a later date, with minimal disruption to the existing house.
The concept begins with an optimally sized one-bedroom home. This initial stage includes an en-suite bathroom with a bath, shower, basin, and toilet. The house will feature a modern, adequately sized kitchen with all the usual appliances, along with a dining area and a comfortable living space. A utility room and carport are also included. The utility room will accommodate a washing machine and tumble dryer and will house the solar battery system and will also act as a store room for your ” stuff “.!
The house can be completely off-grid if desired, or connected to the grid and supported by solar panels that feed into the solar batteries.
Start Small, Grow Big
Moving into a small home in the right location has many advantages. Most importantly, it is far less likely to stretch your budget. The philosophy is simple: start small, grow big. It is far more cost-effective than building a starter home initially and then having to move once you outgrow it.
Instead, design and build a compact one-bedroom house that can be easily expanded when the time is right. Over time, the original home can grow into a two and then three-bedroom house, complete with a garage.
What This Blog Will Cover
In this series of blogs, I will guide you through the entire process from the very beginning. I will show you where to start, how to analyze space, and how to choose appropriate finishes for each area.
We will explore building material options, examine the optimal layout for the kitchen and living area, and consider alfresco spaces. I will also cover the many other factors that need to be thought through when designing and building a home.
