About

Mike holds a BA (Honours) degree in Three-Dimensional Design, which he obtained in High Wycombe in the United Kingdom in 1980. He later specialised in Architectural Design and went on to design and build high-end homes in various parts of Southern Africa, particularly in Cape Town. He subsequently moved to Perth, Australia, where he now lives in semi-retirement.

During his career, Mike had the opportunity to attend numerous building exhibitions throughout Europe, including the annual building exhibition in Birmingham, United Kingdom, on a regular basis. This allowed him to stay up to date with modern building methods, materials, and design trends.

Designing and project managing homes in Cape Town presented many challenges, largely due to the mountainous terrain, the corrosive effects of sea air on building materials, and the often extreme weather conditions, including strong gales and mountain fires.

With over forty years of experience in the industry — encompassing work with demanding clients, managing budgets and time constraints, navigating weather-related challenges, liaising with local authorities, dealing with neighbouring property owners, and coordinating a wide range of contractors and professionals — Mike has gained a wealth of experience in the architectural design and construction sector, which he is now happy to share with you.
